Support Local Farmers

  • Help beginning farmers master farming techniques and break down barriers of entry into sustainable agriculture

  • Offer a convenient wholesale market with fair pay and appreciation

  • Manage the sales, marketing, and logistics, so farmers can do what they do best ... farm!

In 2019, we gave $160,000 back into the hands of local, sustainable farmers. We worked with and supported over 29 local farmers, and introduced 7 aspiring farmers into our GoFarm Incubator Program.

Protect Environment

  • Promote organic and sustainable growing practices

  • Reduce pollution and carbon emissions by reducing transportation miles

  • Incorporate sustainable technology such as a solar powered greenhouse dome and an off-grid food distribution structure.

  • Eliminate food waste through composting, efficient ordering, donating extras to our Community Food Access program, and offering swap boxes that allow participants to only take the items they want

In 2019, we formed a sustainability committee, launched a compost collection service, reduced our plastic usage to almost none, and heavily advocated for sustainable and regenerative farming practices.

Community Engagement

  • Distribution locations are community gathering places where like-minded community members meet, learn, and pick up their food.

  • Offer recipes, nutritional tips, cooking demos, and more that teach and inspire consumers.

In 2019, we provided fresh, local produce for over 1,150 households, offered 110 seasonal recipes and cooking/storage tips, hosted a composting class, canning and preserving class, and yoga session on a local farm. We also hosted our 5th annual Harvest Dinner, and 1st Squash Cook-off event for the community to enjoy!

Address Hunger and Food Equity:

  • Members of Hunger Free Golden and JeffCo Food Policy Council

  • Accept SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks so people can double their SNAP money on Colorado-grown produce

  • Host weekly low-cost food markets at Head Start markets, senior living facilities, and other location around town

  • Offer donations and wholesale pricing on fresh food to food banks, food pantries, and organizations serving under-served communities.

  • Provide food education for families with limited exposure to cooking with fresh, seasonal produce

In 2019, we provided subsidized food to over 560 households through weekly, low-cost markets, and provided 25 families with discounted local food shares. We offered weekly food donations to Christian Action Guild, Colorado School of Mines, Calvary Church, and Arvada Veggie Van, and stayed active in policy work and community food access initiatives.

GoFarm works to strengthen the local food system and build healthier communities. Through our three program areas (Farmer Assistance, Local Food Share, and Community Access) we support local, beginning, farmers, train/mentor aspiring farmers, and make healthy food more affordable and accessible to the community.

Through our Local Food Share program, community members sign up for a season of local, sustainable produce, and get to learn all about the food and the farmers throughout the growing season. You can sign up for the Local Food Share here.
