GoFarm to Families

GoFarm is excited to announce that GoFarm to Families has been funded through a generous grant from the Colorado Health Foundation!

Over the next 3 years (and hopefully beyond!) GoFarm to Families will support healthy eating habits amongst 3-5 year olds and their families at several Jefferson County early childhood education centers. GoFarm to Families focuses on increasing access and affordability of healthy, local foods for preschool-age families in Jefferson County, while also supporting local farmers!

Through GoFarm to Families, teachers have access to fun and engaging educational activities and lesson plans that encourage learning about fruits and vegetables, how they grow, and why they are good for your body. Learning activities also focus on seasonal eating and the benefits of eating locally produced foods.

Affordable Produce Boxes for Families

Eating healthy is important for the whole family and GoFarm to Families makes purchasing fresh produce both convenient and affordable for families. Low-cost produce boxes will be available for families to purchase right at the early childhood education center. These produce boxes include many of the same foods that the children learned about in the classroom and they can be purchased using SNAP benefits (EBT). Family-friendly recipes and food preparation tips are included in the boxes, as well as information about the farmers that grew the food!

GoFarm to Families is proud of their partnerships with the Colorado Health Foundation, Jefferson County Head Start and the Jefferson County Health in Early Childhood Collaborative.

This program is partially funded by proceeds from Local Food Shares.  If you would like to help GoFarm with this initiative, please support GoFarm by purchasing a Local Food Share. You, too, will enjoy seasonal, healthy food, raised and grown locally.
